  • The Big Picture

This competition provides pupils and teachers alike the chance to explore, perform, and develop new skills. Schools from across Lancashire come together for regional heats, culminating in a grand final where every choir can shine. Along the way, pupils develop confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, while discovering the joy of performing in front of an audience. Teachers have the opportunity to lead, inspire, and try new approaches to music-making, all within a supportive and accessible framework. The competition is free to enter, open to all Lancashire primary schools, and designed to make participation fun, rewarding, and full of memorable experiences for everyone involved.

  • How it all began

Last Choir Singing was founded in 2014 by George Critchley, Chairman of True Bearing Chartered Financial Planners, to provide primary school children across Lancashire the chance to experience the joy of singing together.

What began as a small, local initiative has evolved into a much-loved regional event, bringing schools and communities together through music.

George still attends the finals and is pictured here presenting the winners of 2025, AKS.

  • Legacy

Over the years, Last Choir Singing has become a cherished tradition. Hundreds of choirs from across the region have taken part, creating unforgettable memories for pupils and teachers alike. While some schools have grown and developed their musical skills through the competition, the heart of Last Choir Singing has always been about participation, teamwork, and the joy of singing together.
